Exodus 20:1-17

The Ten Commandments

1 And God spoke all these words:
2 “I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery.

3 “You shall have no other gods before me.

4 “You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below.

5 You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me,

6 but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments.

7 “You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God, for the Lord will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name.

8 “Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy.

9 Six days you shall labor and do all your work,

10 but the seventh day is a sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your male or female servant, nor your animals, nor any foreigner residing in your towns.

11 For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.

12 “Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you.

13 “You shall not murder.

14 “You shall not commit adultery.

15 “You shall not steal.

16 “You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor.

17 “You shall not covet your neighbor’s house. You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, or his male or female servant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor.”

What it means to be committed to the Commandments

Matthew 11:28-30
28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.
29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

Complimenting any of the Commandments

Complementing any of the Commandments is vital as you are sowing positive seeds into someone else or perhaps to yourself.

For example: If you notice someone taking something from someone else without getting approval from the correct person in who it belonged to, and you inform that person in their wrong doing to put it back in a polite way then you are educating that person in the particular commandment not to steal.

You only have to speak once and let the person understand what has been said.

If the person does it again then you should continue enforcing that particular Commandment as it is your duty as Christian to educate others in their wrong doing.

This also means enforcing the belief of the Second Greatest Commandment.

Matthew 5:19
"Therefore anyone who sets aside one of the least of these commands and teaches others accordingly will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven."

Personal Advice

Since the first time I went to church when I was still very young, about 5 years old I think; maybe less.

I dedicated myself to the teachings of Church services to learn about the Bible.

( I was not always awake - slept occasionally through service)

Periodically through my years in school I was able to relate events and discipline from the commandments in some way.

In my adult lifestyle I was unable to go to church because of funds for transport and other reasons.

But I dedicated myself reading Exodus 20 from time to time per month on average to always stay on alert and discipline myself to stay in line with what is needed to please God / Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit.

I do not know if this dedication and medidation on the Commandments lead me to become a Prophet for God.

All that I can share with you is that you will bear good fruits adhering and reading this on a frequent basis.

It is part of your salvation in huge ways.

(Excluding prayers, attending service and regular readings of the Bible.)

It is the only way to Love them.

And most definitely the way you will be loved back.
